Monsoon has withdrawn from many parts of India but rain continues in many states and union territories. Heavy rains have thrown life out of gear in Kerala. On Saturday, a red alert was issued in 5 districts of Kerala. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert for 7 other districts here. Many people have also lost their lives in Idukki, Kerala. Many people are said to be missing due to the landslide in Kottayam. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sought help from the Indian Air Force for carrying out relief and rescue operations.
The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast rain not only in Kerala but also in 16 other states and union territories. These include Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of rain till October 19.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the formation of a low pressure area, there may be rain in these places. On behalf of the department, it has been said that another pressure area has formed in some areas of Southeast Arabian Sea and Kerala. Another Low Pressure Area is persisting over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas. This low pressure cyclonic circulation is likely to move generally northwestwards ie West Uttar Pradesh.
The Meteorological Department has said that due to the formation of a low pressure area over Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the southern coastal states and Chhattisgarh. A similar alert has also been issued for Odisha. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain here on October 16 and 18. There is a possibility of rain in Maharashtra on October 17 and in Madhya Pradesh on October 17 and 18.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in Uttarakhand between October 17 and 19. There is also a possibility of rain in Himachal Pradesh. On October 17 and 18, there is a possibility of rain in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, Chandigarh and East Rajasthan also on October 17. There is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms in some states and union territories of Northwest India. These places may receive rain on October 17 and 18. There is also a possibility of rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh.
