Delhi Weather Updates: After 57 years, Delhi received so much monsoon rain, 1964's record may be broken

The capital Delhi has received so much monsoon rain after 57 years. According to the Meteorological Department, 1160.8 mm of rain has been recorded in Delhi till 5.30 pm on Thursday. Earlier in the year 1964, 1190.9 mm of rain was recorded. Since then, the maximum amount of water has rained in this monsoon.

The late monsoon in Delhi broke many old records this time. Delhi generally receives 653.6 mm of rain in the monsoon season. But, this time this figure is moving towards double the normal. It rains heavily, especially in the month of September. So far, more than 400 mm of rain has fallen in September. The Meteorological Department has forecast that light rain may occur in different parts of Delhi on Friday as well.

Monsoon raining the third-highest ever in history

Monsoon this time in the capital is the third-highest rain in history so far. According to the Meteorological Department, so far this monsoon season has received 1170.7 mm of rain. It has rained more than this only twice in a monsoon season.

The historical record for the highest rainfall in the monsoon season, which runs from June 1 to September, dates back to 1933, with a total rainfall of 1420.3 mm. Whereas, in the year 1964, there was 1190.9 mm of monsoon rain. This time there is still time in the monsoon season and there is the hope of rain ahead, so there is a possibility that the record of 1964 will be broken this time.
