Yediyurappa is considered a stalwart leader of the Lingayat community. In such a situation, BJP handed over the command of Karnataka to Basavaraj Bomai, another strong leader of the same community, as his replacement. Not only this, Basavaraj is also considered a trusted lieutenant of BS Yediyurappa. It is believed that it was Yediyurappa who proposed Basavaraj's name as the next CM.
