This is a development needed to reach the 40 percent vaccination target in all countries by the end of 2021.
Mandaviya announced on 20 September that it would re-export coronavirus vaccines in the fourth quarter of 2021 under the Vaccine Friendship Program and to meet its commitment to the Covax Global Pool. Along with this, he had said that vaccination of the citizens of India remains the top priority. Regarding the production of Kovid vaccine in the coming time, he told that the government will get more than 30 crore vaccines in October and more than 100 crore vaccines between October and December.
So far 82.65 crore vaccines have been given in India. It includes both dosages. Talking about giving priority to the citizens of India, the Health Minister said that 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' has been our motto. In such a situation, we will resume the export of Kovid vaccines under Vaccine Maitri to fulfill our commitment to Covax.
Let us tell you that Kovax is a global program. Organizations like CEPI, GAVI and WHO are taking responsibility of the COVAX program. The goal of Kovax is to supply the Kovid vaccine to the poor countries of the world.
