Amid tensions with China in eastern Ladakh, the Defense Ministry on Tuesday approved proposals worth Rs 7,965 crore to equip the forces with modern technology. The projects which have been cleared by the Ministry of Defense include 12 light utility helicopters, short range hun mount, Lynx fire control system and mid-life upgrade of Dornier aircraft.
It has been told by the Ministry of Defense that all these will be manufactured and upgraded completely in India. The ministry has approved these projects under Make India. The 12 lie utility helicopters that have been approved will be procured from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Whereas, to enhance the naval capability, the Lynx fire control system from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and HAL for maritime reconnaissance and coastal surveillance will undertake a mid-life upgrade of the Dornier aircraft, thereby enhancing the tracking capability of reconnaissance aircraft. . Let us tell you that for the last several months in eastern Ladakh, there has been a situation of tension between India and China regarding the border dispute. The Indian Army is fully prepared to respond to China.
