Former assembly speaker Rajendra Trivedi has also got a place in the new council of ministers in Gujarat. Trivedi had resigned from the post of Speaker of the Assembly shortly before his swearing-in. Rajendra Trivedi was the first minister to take oath in Bhupendra Patel's cabinet. Earlier, MLA from Vadodara's Raopura assembly seat, Rajendra Trivedi, submitted his resignation to the Deputy Speaker and said that I am leaving the post with immediate effect. Rajendra Trivedi was made the speaker on February 19, 2018.
A notification was also issued by the Gujarat Assembly Secretariat informing about Trivedi's resignation. According to the notification, with immediate effect from Thursday afternoon, Rajendra Trivedi is relieved of the responsibility of the Speaker.
Ramanlal Vora was handling this responsibility before Trivedi. Two-time MLA Rajendra Trivedi had earlier served as the Minister of Sports and Culture in the state government. There are speculations that once again he may be made a minister in the Bhupendra Patel government. However, till now nothing has been said about this from Trivedi or the party.
