The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Shiv Sena MP Bhavna Gawli to appear on October 4 for questioning in a money laundering case. An official source gave this information. Gawli, 48, is a Shiv Sena MP from Yavatmal-Washim in Maharashtra. Earlier on Tuesday, an alleged aide of Gawli was sent to ED custody till October 1 by a special court in Mumbai.
On Tuesday itself, Gawli's alleged aide Saeed Khan was also arrested under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Khan was produced in a special PMLA court. The court sent him to the ED's custody for further investigation in the matter.
The arrest was made in connection with a money laundering case related to alleged financial irregularities in certain trusts linked to Gawli.
The ED had last month searched several premises in Yavatmal, Washim and Mumbai in connection with the case. The case is based on an FIR registered against some of the accused for an alleged fraud of Rs 18 crore. It is related to irregularities.
