Difficult for Hindus to live in Bangladesh, 3,721 houses and temples vandalized in 9 years

This is not the first instance of violence against Bangladeshi Hindus who have faced vandalism in pandals and temples on the occasion of Durga Puja. Even before this, Bangladeshi Hindus have often been victims of persecution.


According to a rights group, 3,721 houses and temples in Bangladesh have been vandalized by Hindus in the last nine years. The Dhaka Tribune quoted the report of the Ain O Salish Center as saying that 2021 has been the most dangerous in the last 5 years. This year the Hindu community has faced massive attacks in Bangladesh. Radical elements in Bangladesh have become increasingly strong in the past few years.

Faced 1,678 attacks so far this year

So far this year, the Hindu community has faced 1,678 attacks on homes and temples. Hindus are facing trouble in following their religion and making a living. There have been many incidents of damage to Hindu temples. Recently, incidents of vandalism were reported in Hindu temples and Durga Puja pandals in Kamila area on Navami day. During this, the fundamentalists had created a nuisance for about 4 hours. During this violence, 4 people were killed and the army had to be deployed due to tension in 22 districts.

Large scale violence against Hindus in 2014

In the last three years, 18 Hindu families have faced violence in Bangladesh. Not only this, rights activists say that the real figure can be even higher because the media covers only big events. The worst in the last nine years was in 2014, when 1,201 houses belonging to the minority community were vandalized by miscreants. Talking about this year, so far radical elements have damaged 196 houses, trading centres, temples and monasteries. Not only this, idols of deities have also been vandalized at many places.

There was havoc on Navami on the rumor of insult of Quran

Let us tell you that recently a rumor was spread about the violence during Navami that the Quran has been insulted. Hindus had to face communal attacks on a large scale due to this rumour. According to the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, 70 people have been injured in the recent violence and about 130 homes, shops and other centers have been attacked, Dhaka Tribune reported.
