Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa teasing Imran Khan, reached ISI office amid tension

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived at the intelligence agency's headquarters on Monday amid the ongoing confrontation with the Imran Khan government over the appointment of the new ISI chief. Here, ISI Director General Faiz Hameed himself received Bajwa. It is being said that Bajwa had come here to take an update on the preparedness of the ISI in view of the internal security and the situation in Afghanistan. After talking to the ISI chief, Bajwa expressed satisfaction over the agency's preparedness. However, it is believed that Qamar Javed Bajwa's visit to the ISI office was also to send a message to Imran Khan.

For several days, there has been a period of tension between the government and the army over the replacement of the chief of ISI. The army chief had recently announced the replacement of Lt Gen Faiz Hameed from the post of ISI chief and replacing him with Nadeem Ahmed Anjum. However, till now a notification has not been issued by the PM Office in this regard. It is clear that there is a tussle going on between the government and the army on this issue. Not only this, Imran Khan himself had said that he wanted General Hameed to be the head of ISI in the current situation.

Lt Gen Faiz Hameed has now been appointed as the commander of Peshawar Corps by the Pakistan Army. Nadeem Ahmed Anjum is going to replace him soon. Let us inform that regarding the appointment of ISI chief, Imran government minister Fawad Chaudhry had said on October 12 that the entire process will be followed in this and the PM has the right to do so. He had said that the entire process will be followed in this regard and talks are taking place between PM Imran Khan and General Bajwa in this regard. But with no announcement till now, it is clear that there is still tension between the government and the army.
