Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who came into the limelight by making a controversial cartoon of Prophet Mohammed, has died after being hit by a truck. This road accident took place in the small town of Markrid in southern Sweden on Sunday. The police are also looking at this case with suspicion because Lars Wilkes had been twice murdered in the past, in which he had narrowly escaped. It was only after these attacks that Wilkes was given police protection.

According to the inputs received by the police, 75-year-old Lars Wilkes died when he was going somewhere in a police vehicle. His vehicle overturned in the wrong direction and collided with a truck. After which both the vehicles caught fire. The 45-year-old truck driver has been hospitalized in a serious condition in this accident.
The police is also investigating in this case whether the vehicle in which Wilkes was going was actually a victim of the accident or that the accident was done intentionally.
