Xi Jingping resorting to anti-corruption campaign to drive out opponents, now Fu Zhenghua is the target

Former Chinese Justice Minister Fu Zhenghua has become the target of President Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign. The ruling Communist Party's Central Disciplinary Inspection Commission reported on 2 October that Fu Zhenghua, also a former deputy minister of public security, is under investigation for party discipline and serious violations of the law. The commission has not given any further details about the matter.
It is not clear why 66-year-old Fu became the target of Xi Jinping's campaign. He was Head of Public Security for Beijing and Deputy Minister of Public Security from 2013 to 2018. After this, Fu has been Minister of Justice between 2018-2020.

As deputy minister of public security, Fu led the investigation into Zhou Yongkang, one of the most senior officials convicted in an anti-corruption campaign. Former Public Security Minister Zhou was one of nine members of the Politburo Standing Committee, the Communist Party's apex body, under Xi's predecessor, President Hu Jintao. Zhou was sentenced to life in 2015 for taking bribes, abusing power and leaking state secrets.

Let us tell you that Xi Jinping has been accused of using an anti-corruption campaign to drive out political opponents. The fall of Zhou was seen as the burial of a once powerful faction in the Communist Party.
