End of Naxalism in one year, Home Minister Amit Shah set target in meeting with Chief Ministers

Union Home Minister Amit Shah called a meeting on Sunday to eliminate Left Wing Extremism in Naxal-affected states. Chief Ministers of Naxal-affected states also participated in this meeting. During this, Amit Shah asked the Chief Ministers to spend the next whole year in curbing Naxalism in his state. He said that a joint strategy will have to be made to stop the money reaching the Naxalite groups. The Chief Ministers of Odisha, Telangana, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Jharkhand attended the meeting.

Told the Chief Ministers to keep it on priority

During the meeting, the Home Minister said that the fight against Naxalite groups is in the final stages. Now the attacks of Naxalites should be completely stopped. He told all the Chief Ministers present in the meeting to finish this issue on priority for the next one year. Chief Ministers Naveen Patnaik (Orissa), K Chandrashekhar Rao (Telangana), Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Uddhav Thackeray (Maharashtra) and Hemant Soren (Jharkhand) attended the meeting. Apart from these, Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnav, Giriraj Singh, Arjun Mund and Nityanand Rai were also present in the meeting. On the other hand, the Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala could not attend the meeting. Instead, ministers or senior officials of these states attended the meeting.

Said the need to rein in the source of income of Naxalites

In the meeting, Amit Shah said that efforts should be made to close the source of money received by Naxalite groups. He said that with better coordination by the Central and State Governments, success can be achieved in this direction by putting pressure and increasing the speed. Shah also discussed other measures to rein in Naxalites. He said that this could happen with the efforts of ED, ANI and State Police by increasing the security measures, stopping the money reaching the Naxalites. Along with this, the Home Minister also told the need for regular review meetings from the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and DGP level.

There has been a record decrease in the incidents of Naxalite violence

During this, Amit Shah also gave information about the decrease in the incidents of Naxal violence in the last few days. He said that in 2009 there were 2258 incidents of Naxal violence.Now these have decreased by 70 percent, in 2020 this figure was reduced to 665. He said that there has been a decrease of 82 per cent in 2020 as compared to 1005 deaths in 2010 and now it has come down to only 183. The Home Minister said that the number of Naxal affected districts has also come down in comparison to 2010. Then where there used to be a total of 96 such districts, in 2020 the number of such districts has come down to only 53. He said that instead of being satisfied with what we have achieved, the emphasis should be on achieving what is left.
