A woman, who has filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court to declare polygamy and halala illegal, has come to light in the case of her ex-husband trying to get halala done by a friend, attempt to rape, and assault. On the complaint of a woman resident of Jamia Nagar, the police have registered a case and started investigating the matter.
The police officer said that the victim lives with her child in Jamia Nagar. In the complaint given to the police, the victim told that the accused Riyazuddin had married her in January 2012, claiming himself to be a divorcee. But, after the marriage, it is found that she is not divorced. According to the victim, Riyazuddin along with his first wife started harassing her. Meanwhile, the victim had a son. At the end of the year 2012, the accused threw the victim out of the house by giving triple talaq, after which there was no relation between the two.
The victim told that on the night of August 19, Riyazuddin reached her house with a friend and said that nine years ago he had made a big mistake by giving triple talaq to the victim. Now he wants to marry her again. Riyazuddin said that if the victim performs halala with her friend, he will marry her again. It is alleged that on protesting, the accused tore the clothes of the victim and tried to rape and beat her. Hearing the screams, neighbors started gathering and both the accused ran away.
The accused is associated with a political party
The victim has told in her complaint that the accused Riyazuddin Khan is the secretary of the AIMIM political party, Uttar Pradesh. Due to political reach, the accused is threatening to kill her and the child. However, Riyazuddin says that he has resigned from the party a week ago. According to Riyazuddin, the woman is making false allegations against him for Rs. He has not gone to Delhi for six months. At present, the police is investigating the matter.
