The way to get a job after studying in America has become easier. A US federal court has turned down former President Donald Trump's administration's proposal to change H1B visa rules. This will give relief to Indian professionals.
The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreign professionals working in US companies to stay in the country. The Trump administration was proposed to change the rules to increase employment to local people. Under this, preference will be given to applications for high-paying jobs instead of drawing lottery for visas. The US Chamber of Commerce went to court against it. The court had put a temporary stay on this. Traders said that if the new rule is implemented, it will be difficult to hire fresh graduates as they will not be able to apply. Students will not come to study if they do not get jobs.
The number of H-1B visas issued annually is limited to 65,000. Also an additional 20,000 visas are reserved for individuals with higher degrees. The system of selection of applications was based on first come, first served and lottery.
