The Congress, which is facing defeat in one election after another, is ready for another experiment. The party wants to reach the threshold of victory in the elections by giving a place in the organization to the youth coming out of the movement. Former JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat MLA and Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani are part of the party's strategy. Both the youth leaders are likely to join the Congress on Tuesday.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi started internal elections in Youth Congress and NSUI in 2007 as party general secretary. Its goal was to give an opportunity to the grassroots youth workers in the organization to grow. It was a good effort, but youths belonging to the families of senior leaders in the states themselves became office bearers by winning elections through money power.
After this the party did another experiment in the 2014 elections. On the lines of America, the process of internal democracy was adopted to decide the candidates for 16 Lok Sabha seats. In this, the opinion of the party office-bearers and leaders of that area was to be taken for the selection of the candidate. But this experiment was stopped after opposition from ticket claimants on many seats.
After this, the Congress used the data to decide the candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The party's Shakti app also played an important role in this. The party tried to fix candidates on the basis of analysis of data for 300 seats, but even this effort was not successful. In such a situation, this time will decide how successful the party is in connecting the youth through Kanhaiya and Mevani.
