The minister, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, laid out the new policies at a news conference on Sunday, days after Afghanistan's new rulers formed an all-man Taliban government. Haqqani said university girl students would be required to wear the hijab but did not say whether this would mean only a mandatory headscarf or that they would have to cover their full faces.
"We will not allow boys and girls to study together," he said. "We will not allow co-education," Haqqani said the subjects being taught in universities will also be reviewed. The Taliban had banned music and art during their previous rule.
