Under the instigation of Pakistan, once again the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), an organization of Muslim countries, has spewed poison on the Kashmir issue. In a meeting held on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) asked India to withdraw its decision to end the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, India has asked the OIC not to allow the OIC to use its platform to comment on people with vested interests in its internal affairs.
According to the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan, a joint communique was issued after the meeting of foreign ministers of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was presided over by the Secretary General, OIC. According to Pakistan's Foreign Department, 'In a joint statement issued after the meeting of the Contact Group of Foreign Ministers of the OIC, India should withdraw all illegal and unilateral decisions taken on and after August 5, 2019 and Jammu and Kashmir. Human rights violations happening on a large scale in the country should be stopped.
At the same time, India has already made it clear that abolishing the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by deactivating Article 370 is its internal matter. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had said in August, "The OIC has no jurisdiction in matters relating to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, an integral part of India." We reiterate that the OIC Secretariat should refrain from allowing vested interests to exploit its platform for comments on India's internal affairs.
This is not the first time that the OIC, an organization of Muslim countries, has spewed venom on India's Kashmir issue, but from time to time this organization has been taking the side of Pakistan. Last month also, on the second anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on August 5, 2019, had termed the steps taken in Kashmir as one-sided and said in the voice of Pakistan that Article 370 should be given to the Government of India. But the decision should be changed.
However, India also gave a befitting reply to the Islamic organization. Actually, the IOC is an organization of 57 Muslim-majority countries. It has generally been supportive of Pakistan and often favors Islamabad on Kashmir. Pakistan has often misused this platform to raise the Kashmir issue. The OIC is the second largest organization in the world after the United Nations.
