The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested a Pakistani terrorist from Ramesh Park in Laxmi Nagar. He was living with a fake ID of an Indian national. It is being told that he was involved in the conspiracy of terror attacks around Diwali and upcoming festivals. In this way, the Delhi Police has done the work of averting the danger from the city while exposing a big terrorist conspiracy. An AK-47 rifle along with a spare magazine and 60 rounds of cartridges, a hand grenade, two state-of-the-art pistols with 50 rounds of cartridges have been recovered by the Special Cell from his possession.
The arrested terrorist has been identified as Mohammad Asraf alias Ali. He hails from the Punjab province of Pakistan. He has been booked under relevant provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosives Act, Arms Act and other provisions. At present he was living in Ramesh Park area of Laxmi Nagar, Delhi. When the police arrested him and searched his house, many types of weapons were recovered from there.
DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha said that Pakistan national Mohammad Ashraf had obtained the Indian identity card through forged documents. He was living as an Indian citizen.
Delhi was shaken by the serial bomb blasts in 2005.

Two blasts took place in main markets like Sarojini Nagar and Paharganj, while the third one took place in a DTC bus in Govindpuri. In this about 63 people were killed and 210 people were injured.

Delhi Police has received inputs of terrorist attack in Delhi during the festive season. Delhi Police has beefed up security in crowded areas, including markets and malls, in view of the festive season. Security has been beefed up in overcrowded and congested areas and additional 'pickets' are being deployed in sensitive areas, a senior police official said.
Police increased night patrolling in the city, keeping an eye on such people
Another senior official said that night patrolling has been increased. He said that we have increased night patrolling and pickets have been installed in sensitive areas, verification of tenants is being done. Cyber cafes, SIM card vendors and second hand car dealers are also being verified. He said that we are doing extensive checking of parking spaces across the city including in metro and mall areas. Overcrowded markets where shop owners keep their belongings outside are also being sensitized and asked to install more CCTV cameras.
