Kim said that the food crisis in the country has deepened due to supply disruptions and production not meeting the target in the agriculture sector. Due to this the prices of food grains and other essential food items in the country have increased tremendously.

Earlier in April too, Kim Jong had asked the authorities to start a 'difficult march' again to give some relief to the public from the difficulties. According to a source associated with the dictator's team, Kim has also made it clear that the food crisis will continue until the year 2025. Officials said cross-border trade between North Korea and China is unlikely to resume in the next four years.
