The Bangladesh government has said about the recent communal clashes that 6 people have died in this violence. Among those who died, 4 are Muslims and 2 are Hindus. In many places it is being told that the death toll is inflated, which is wrong. Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said that no one was raped and not a single temple was destroyed. However, vandalism and violence have been done to the idols of deities which was unfortunate and should not have happened. The government has immediately arrested the criminals and now they are in police custody.
The External Affairs Minister also raised questions on the media. He said that false news about the violence was spread to embarrass the Sheikh Hasina government. He has said that we are investigating the communal violence that took place during Durga Puja celebrations. We are working to bring justice to every wrongdoer.
We are also probing the incident in which a person left a copy of the Holy Quran near the feet of a deity, sparking outrage on social media. According to news agency ANI, at least 71 cases have been registered in the country in relation to attacks on Hindus and around 450 have been arrested for spreading rumors on social media.
